I have updated the drivers to 182.06 version and defragged Harddrives. Patch 1.0.3. refuses to work for me somehow, so I'm sticking to 1.0.1.0 for now. All in all, all those actions gave a 1-2 Average FPS increase in Benchmark test. Regarding overclocking, I overclocked the card before in order to INCREASE fps in GTA IV, but the result was neglible.
I'm not really good with the technicialities, so I'd like to ask some of hardware gurus in here to help me.
I'm running GTA IV on almoust minimal settings to get playable FPS. Can anyone point out what is the weakest link in my rig or any tips to improve the performance?

Also 2Gb OCZ DDR2 400Mhz RAM, 8600GT 512MB DDR2 overclocked a bit, if that rings a bell.
Does any other gear engage when you shift in it in game?
You aren't trying to use H-mode in SS or GTRs, are you? (These cars have Sequential gearbox thus H-gate doesn't work)
Overall, I would say G25 is good product.
I have mine for about a year now. I had small problem with buttons on Steering wheel when they refused to work randomly, but it was easily fixed by unpluging and repluging their sockets back under the steering wheel. I wouldn't call that a problem tbh...
+1,
There are indeed a lot of threads about G25 "problems", but if actually would open them you'll see its mostly tipical and silly mistakes of the users themselves.
I've completed the game today. I've selected the revenge branch and in result Kate was killed on the wedding. After I have completed all the missions and titles rolled. I was cruising around town and had a call form an Unknown caller... When I picked it up it was Kate proposing to meet.
I'd disagree...
LFS, or any other sim can be helpful to learn theoretical basics of how the car should behave in certain conditions. Of course, the same can be achived by reading certain books. Atleast it gave some sort of knowledge about what happens with the car while driving.
In no way it is a highly helpful option, but still an option
